Gloe & Zeitz B.V. have joined a UNICEF project called Business Buddies. We would like to show our social commitment and were looking for a great cause to support. Given the international character of our company, where we also do business in countries where a number of things are less well organized than here, we wanted to participate in an international project. We came into contact with the Business Buddies program through UNICEF. We are very pleased that we can contributing to a better world in several areas through the Plastic Bricks project. What does the project do?

Plastic Bricks

Plastic Bricks is a program that collects litter and recycles it into plastic building blocks, which are used to build new classrooms. The plastic litter is collected (often by women) but is often badly paid. Unicef ​​uses the expertise of a Colombian company that recycles this plastic, allowing UNICEF to buy the plastic from these women for a fair price. These plastic building blocks then form the basis for new classrooms, and even a new school.
In this way we contribute to less environmental pollution, more employment for women and more classrooms with better education. Children have the future, and if we can help contribute to that in any way, we would like to do so.

UNICEF aims to build 528 classrooms so that an additional 25,000 children can attend school. There are currently 359 classrooms. If the goal is achieved, new projects will follow in other countries.

In cooperation with suppliers we aim at reducing the quantity of packaging materials and thus a minimal environmental impact.
